Kevlar is a very light, very strong synthetic fiber first created by DuPont Company. The generic material is called Aramid. It comes in different weaves and weights. Fiberglass is a material made from extremely fine fibers of glass. When it gets combined with polyester resin, it becomes a flexible, strong composite material. Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fibers, also known as Spectra, are woven to create a very tough material with the highest impact strength of any thermoplastic presently made. It is highly resistant to corrosive chemicals, has low moisture absorption, very low coefficient of friction, is self lubricating and highly resistant to abrasion.
